Do Something Different!
By Paul F. Mitchell
October 20, 2003

When you’re stuck in a rut and the sun will not shine
Just decide to stop pouting and get rid of the whine
Move out from under that cloud hanging over your head
If you want life to change you’ve got to do something different!

If you can’t get a raise and the bills are past due
If the soles just fell off your last pair of shoes
Go dance in the rain with bare-footed faith
Because life just won’t change until you do something different!

Fate can find ways to be cruel, callous, and unkind
Piling problems on you until you’re half out of your mind
But if you want to survive, one fact you must learn
The way to change life is to do something different!

You can’t win if you don’t stay in the race
But if you keep doing what you’ve been doing
You’re just running in place
Get it through your skull - you’ve got to do something different!

Nothing will change until you realize this truth
You’ve got to give apathy and ennui the boot!
Ignore the scoffers, the doomsayers and doubters
Catch hold of that dream and go do something different!

Do something different before it’s too late
That open grave that you’re in just can’t be your fate
Get desperate, get determined, get hold of your guts
Go rewrite that ending to the story of your life!

The span of your days is simply too short
So all fear and doubt you just have to abort
Say goodbye to your past and embrace each tomorrow
Because the secret to living is to do something different!
