Essentials - Staci Wilder

In a society saturated with choices, sometimes it’s nice to receive some knowledgeable recommendations.

Staci Wilder’s second novel, For Such a Time as This, was just released from Word Aflame Press. Her first, These Things We Hold, was the start of the Women of Crandall series.

She has published devotions in The Hiding Place and Penned from the Heart, and her articles have appeared in The Texas Sentinel and The Pentecostal Herald.  She is a member of American Christian Romance Writers, where she has been blessed by mentors such as Deborah Raney and Karen Kingsbury.

Waiting for Morning by Karen Kingsbury
I love everything Karen Kingsbury writes and highly recommend all her books.  But Waiting for Morning is a good place to start because Kingsbury captures the human spirit in this novel about love, loss, forgiveness, and new beginnings.  She is the master of emotions and you’ll need plenty of Kleenex for this read!

Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs
Catchy title, huh?  Just when we think we simply cannot live up to biblical role models such as Esther or Mary, Liz Curtis Higgs brings us Bad Girls of the Bible.  This book is an entertaining, fresh concept that takes a look at real women of the past and shows us how these “bad girls” of the past can teach us how to be “good girls” in the present.

Eyes of Elisha by Brandilyn Collins
This book is not for the weak-hearted. Collins has written a truly breath-taking Christian suspense novel, complete with everything I love—wonderful characters, romance, great plot twists, and a surprise ending.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Of all the classics, this is my all-time favorite.  Who can help but love the spirited Elizabeth Bennet and the unforgettable Mr. Darcy?  This tale follows an unlikely pair as they are forced to give up their personal pride and prejudices before they can enter into a happy relationship together.

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks
Sparks is the master of storytelling.  He crafts believable, vibrant characters—people you can imagine living next door.  A Walk to Remember chronicles the love story of Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, two teens in a small Southern town who learn about the beauty, power, and innocence of first love.

What a Girl Wants by Kristin Billerbeck
This is a brand-new novel about to be released by W Publishing.  Billerbeck is a member of my writing group and has her finger on the pulse point of Christian “chick-lit”.  She has written a hilarious story of a young, single gal who only wants “a nice Christian guy who doesn't live with his mother…and maybe a Prada handbag…"
