Print Campus ministry is all about winning others to Jesus Christ and strengthening our own spiritual walk in the process. Is all of this just talk, or does it actually work? The following are excerpts taken from actual e-mail traffic on the CMI ListServer in 2004. Some are from efforts excited about beginning, and others are reports of success from established ministries. Apostolic campus ministry really is happening all across North America! Note: To subscribe to the CMI ListServer, simply send a message with the word “subscribe” to cmi-list@du.edu and you will be added. -----Original
Message----- I am a part of a campus ministry at Central Florida Community College in Ocala, Florida. The second week of the fall semester, the college had an event where all the clubs gather together and have display tables to inform students about their club. Our club, R.O.C. (Realizing Our Cause), did a table and had a form that people who were interested in attending our meetings or staying in contact with us could fill out. In total we had 45 people fill out the form, and many of them said they would be at our next meeting. Over the past year, our club has come in contact with many people through events we have hosted as well as personal witnessing, and we are still in contact with them and working to see them saved. I am believing God for many souls to be saved through our campus ministry, and I encourage every one who is involved in campus ministry to stay focused on your purpose. Let's make a difference! -----Original
Message----- Praise the Lord CMI students!! We are truly living the Gospel here on the campus at Troy University in Troy, Alabama. God is taking us to a new level that we've been praying and seeking Him for. He does answer the prayers of college students. Our ministry has doubled its size since last semester. We had a cookout to welcome the students back which was also a great success. Now it's time to “Go ye therefore...” Pray that the Lord will continue to use the Pentecostal Campus Ministry here at Troy. We want our candles to burn bright for all the students to know we are LIVING THE GOSPEL!!! -----Original
Message----- Hi Christian and Campus Ministry Leaders, Our organization is up and running again. We took a short break during the summer to plan and fundraise for the upcoming school year. Last year a total of about 20 students received the Holy Ghost and/or baptized in Jesus name as a result of members in our bible study. We are praying to double that number this school year. Be encouraged everyone! -----Original
Message----- Allow me to introduce myself. I am Jeremy Strickland and for the past two years I have been with Apostolic Students for Christ, the campus ministry of the University of Central Arkansas. UCA is a liberal arts college with over 10,000 students and is the fastest growing campus in the state. A major crusade is coming to UCA this fall. Bro. Mark Morgan and America on Fire will be here Oct 1, 2. This is a multi-church effort. Over $5,000 of the money received from UCA has been allocated to the crusade. In other words: UCA has given us money to hold a Holy Ghost Crusade!!!!! The center on campus is reserved, holding over 5,000 people. We would love for as many as possible to come and be a part of this exciting event. Pray for us we reach our campus. -----Original
Message----- I was just going to let you know that we have started a CMI at the University of North Texas, in Denton, TX. C4, Calvary Crossfire College & Career, is excited about all of the opportunities that a college campus ministry provides and prays that the Lord blesses our ministry to its fullest. -----Original
Message----- Friday May 14 we had an on campus service at Florida International University. A young lady named Ella received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She came to church on Sunday and was baptized in the name of Jesus. One more soul from FIU! She told us she had been sitting on campus reading her Bible and asking God for a closer relationship with Him (she was Catholic). A few minutes later she met us while we were passing out flyers and agreed to come to service and “Experience Pentecost” (our theme for the services). God put her in the right place at the right time. Keep the Faith. -----Original
Message----- Praise the Lord. I will try to make this
brief. Last night was the first “Spirit of Scranton (PA)” aka S.O.S. meeting.
There were 14 in attendance! And that was without flyers! I didn’t get a chance
to put up flyers. We had some praise and worship in the beginning. I mean it was
great. I am so blessed because God has given me so much help. Brother Scott
Patterson and his wife, CMI coordinators for PA, came out to support me and help
me out. They are wonderful people. I also had a young local minister and his
wife there. There were a few people who opened up and you could tell they were
hungry. Some said they were Please continue to pray for my campus. I cannot believe this is happening! I did it! I wouldn’t have made it without HIM. GLORY BE TO GOD. -----Original
Message----- Praise the Lord Campus warriors. I apologize for not sending any reports from our campus for this semester. We have had three receive the Holy Ghost this semester. ----- Original Message
----- Praise the Lord! The service Friday February 20th was a blessing. Our club advisor received the baptism of the Holy Ghost! God is doing great things in FIU. -----Original
Message----- Date: 2/22/2004 Praise the Lord! We hosted our Creation vs. Evolution Debate with Dr. Arlo Moehlenpah last night, where a biological evolutionist professor was willing to debate. Both of them presented PowerPoint multimedia presentations with rebuttals and questions from an audience of approximately 250 people, about 230 of them were visitors. Many positions were represented in last night's audience, including other campus ministries, the Union of Freethinking Students, Pagan Student Association, and those simply seeking more Truth. The Truth of God's Word definitely permeated the atmosphere as Bro. Moehlenpah gave his presentation on how evolution is not scientific (without even having to mention anything about God in his argument until the evolutionist professor first mentioned Him). -----Original
Message----- Praise the Lord everybody! The January 16 service was AWESOME! There is revival in FIU Biscayne Bay! 6 students joined us for service. 3 students received the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. 1 student was water baptized in the name of Jesus. I am so excited about what the Lord is doing on the FIU Biscayne Bay campus! He is moving and working on young people's hearts and lives. Students are "Catching the Fire!"
