Navigate-Charting the Course of Relationships

Editors Note: The Texas district has recently released a College&Career curriculum which is reviewed below.

As Lewis and Clark traveled the Northwest Territory, they had to navigate into a vast and uncharted region.  Their amazing success was the equivalent of landing on the moon and the more recent breakthrough in technology with the World Wide Web.  Unique to each of these examples is the fact that without navigation, the mission would have been impossible.  So it is with the 21st century young person that is trying to find their place in life!

This series of lessons Navigate – Charting the Course of Relationships is written from the heart of veteran youth workers with a passion to clear a path for the next generation of young adults.  This practical series is good for individual or group study and will provide a true course through the difficult passages that young people face.

What I found interesting about this course was the various relationships which are dealt with through the weeks.  Not only do the lessons include romantic relationships, and also your relationship with God, but they deal with the relationship with oneself which is so important during the college and early career stage of one’s life.

The format remains relatively consistent across the board, which will help with lesson preparation.  However, due to having various contributors, the voice of the lessons vary.  Also, there is only one female contributor, and thus only one female voice in all of the lessons.

The problem some may find with this course is that it is sold only on CD and you must have adobe to run the program.  While the church attempts to stay relevant, not all teachers are as computer equipped as this program seems to assume.

All in all, I was very impressed with this program.  The Age of Exploration was driven by individuals who wanted to succeed, only to find that there was always another test that would try the will of man.  This course will challenge the adventurer within and cause you to explore the deep caverns of your mind and spirit.
