Always the Undercurrent

While I could ascribe all the qualities You have in a song,
I want to worship You in my way.
You may be Saviour of the world,
but that seems too big to meet my need for today.

The still, small voice that I know is always there,
I can't always get to
For the noise of life and even of a church service is
sometimes the wall I can't break through.

So, I'll block out the external circumstances, wade through the storms,
and slow down the race
For me, I need the quiet strength You offer
as I simply seek for Your face.

What happened to the moments, what happened to the
whisper of a verse of scripture that speaks to me?
I go back to what I know is true:  You are still the
Undercurrent despite the noise of a surrounding sea.

You are the triumphant King that I serve and
You are the hope for all eternity.
But sometimes all I need to know, all I need to recognize
Is that You still see me.
