A Brand New Year
By Sarah k. Holland and the readers of ninetyandnine.com
January 2, 2006

Believe it or not, I love Mondays.  The same way I love a new semester, and a new year.  I love fresh starts, the chance to begin again.  And with every new beginning, I have the opportunity to set new goals, and a chance to achieve them.  But no goal can be achieved without first making it known.  Here is what some ninetyandnine.com readers set as their goals for 2006.  Take their lead, set your goals, and be a success in 2006.

To stop fretting about the future and to live in the moment.
Allison Dumas, Auburn Hills, MI

To get rich without winning the lottery.
Luke Anderson, Ottawa, Ontario

To stay away from my new in-laws as much as possible.
Mark Johnson, Memphis, TN

My goal for the new year is to focus more on church, school, and family, and not focus as much on my personal life.
Ashley McCool, Knoxville, TN

To spend at least two weekends with my grandparents (just us) this year...doing, anything. And to have some form of communication with all my "distant" relatives monthly.
Tevia, Shreveport, LA

To get on the Police Force.
Daniel Yarnall, Pontiac, MI

To stay with one college major the whole entire year. I keep switching almost every semester and would like to finally just engulf myself in one so I feel like I am finally going somewhere!
Cassondra Tovar, Clarkston, MI

My goal this year is to become a husband fit for the wonderful lady that God brought into my life.
Keith, Dallas, T
X

To push myself into the right direction as far as education goes.  I haven’t had a real aim in life and I really have been longing for that the last few months.
Sean Parent, Waterford, MI

Get an awesome internship overseas for the entire summer...either Australia or Iceland looks to be the place.
Joshua Phillips, Maryville, TN

To maintain a journal for most of the years to come. I figure that I'm getting older, and I'm going to start forgetting things, so this seems like a great idea. I want to be able to talk to my kids about the way society was when I was a teenager, the clothes we wore, the lingo, and all of the great people I knew. It'd be nice to leave something behind besides some pictures and incomplete stories.
Katie Jackson, Clarkston, MI

To stay as far away from my mother-in-law as possible.
Aaron Smith, St. Louis, MO

I gotta give up fast food this year.
Scott, Barberton, OH

I guess one of my goals would be to once again do well in school.
Donnie Ayers, Anchorage, AK

To become more committed to my own-self improvement especially my education.
Jason Liston, MI

My goal is to write and produce a play.
Holly Carter, Pontiac, MI

To personally win 50 souls.
Hiro Nishi, Beaumont, TX

To win a soul to Christ.
Brad Titus, Indianapolis, IN

To enroll in a graduate program.
Jason Ouellette, Wichita Falls, TX

I have many goals, but probably the most important one would be to grow more spiritually. In all aspects of it....wisdom being the most important...as some guy once said..."First know thyself'...after that the rest will fall into place.
Adrianna Mellon, Auburn Hills, MI

I would like to get better at keeping in touch with my friends, family and close contacts while away in college.
Brandon Flynn, Millbrook, AL

To remember what it was like to laugh unabashedly, like a child, from my heart and belly.  Speaking of bellies to drop about 15 lbs.
Travis Lassiter, US Navy

To read the Bible completely through.
Anthony McCool, Knoxville, TN

To get back into shape after I have my baby, and be able to run at 3 miles in 27 minutes.
Amber Curry, Auburn Hills, MI

Get my hands out of a hundred activities and instead give my full attention to just a couple.
T Barton, Clarkston, MI

Drink more water.
April Crum, Clarkston, MI

In 2006 I am planning to purchase my first home.
Brad Hoff, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

To eat healthier and as for spiritually I want to set aside more time to read the Bible.
Megan, Royal Oak, MI

To "Take the stairs."  I mean that as much metaphorically as I do literally.  Taking the stairs to me means take the road less traveled.  Take the road that might cause a little more work but in the end it will bring a greater reward.  In all things I do I plan to "take the stairs."  I plan to put greater effort and reap greater benefits.
W. Brie Lycan, Anderson, IN
