Print We had a white Christmas! When I looked out the window it was breathtaking. Just enough snow to cover the brown grass and decorate the trees. The world always seems so fresh and new with a simple snowfall. As I gazed out the window I was reminded of a saying I heard once, “Tomorrow is fresh, with no mistakes in it.” This statement would be the title of the scenery I was peering at if I could have painted it. Usually we start afresh in the New Year, we make lists and promises to change and improve but after a few days or weeks they fall by the wayside. Many times we are left feeling we have failed and we spend a few more weeks disappointed we even tried. But I wonder, what if we didn’t wait for a New Year—what if we looked at every day as our very own white Christmas? Every morning we would ask the Lord to cover our hearts white as snow and start the day with no mistakes; what a difference that would make. Paul wrote, “Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day” (II Corinthians 4:16 RSV). My heart can be made new every morning by the power of the Holy Spirit. What a joyous thought that I don’t have to wait until a specific day to start over—every morning I can meet with God and he can give me a brand new day that is fresh with no mistakes.
