“And it shall come to pass in
the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh....For the
promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as
many as the Lord our God shall call”
(Acts 2:17, 39). These words, boldly proclaimed to an amazed multitude on the
day of Pentecost, are resounding loud and strong throughout the city of
Evansville, Indiana, today. As was promised long ago, God is still pouring out His Spirit upon all flesh. The current revival at Bethel United Pentecostal Church started Wednesday, November 9, 2005, and as of Sunday, January 21, 2006, God has filled 121 souls with the Holy Ghost! (This from a church that ran just under 200 people before the revival began.) Evansville is experiencing the promise. God is truly no respecter of persons. God has filled children of all ages. He has filled meth addicts, cocaine addicts, and alcoholics. He has brought backsliders back into the Church, whom no one could have ever imagined. He has set people free from depression, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and sexual sin. He has filled people with the Holy Ghost who have been seeking for nine years, and he has filled people who have been seeking the Holy Ghost for nine minutes. He has filled over 20 kids from the bus ministry with the Holy Ghost. He has filled people from five years old to 65 years old. There is no one that He cannot fill. There is no sin that He cannot forgive. There is no addiction that He cannot break. Revival Basics The revival has continued through a mixture of wisdom (the saints haven’t been worn out, as services most weeks are Wednesday through Friday, and Sunday, with no revival services the week of Thanksgiving and Christmas), unified sacrifice (once the revival took off, numerous people have gone on 3-day, 7-day, and even 14-day fasts), and God’s almighty grace. Houseworth has preached a lot about vision, on seeing in your mind what God wants to do in this community. He has also preached consistently on praising God no matter what you are going through, and forgetting past mistakes and failures and walking forward in the power of the Holy Ghost. Faith began to grow, and by that first weekend there were about 18 people who received the Holy Ghost. Fervent prayer and fasting have taken the revival to a new level. In the eyes of the church God can do anything now, it doesn’t matter if it’s drug addictions or cancer, He’ll take care of it. Revival Testimonies Joe has also been a marvelous
witness to people who have seen the change God has made in his life. He has had
the opportunity to witness to everyone, from former drug buddies to state
troopers. When asked what he thought about the Holy Ghost, Joe replied, “It’s
awesome, and it doesn’t even show up on a drug test!” Another miracle came all the way from Arizona. Bro. Brewer’s sister, Regina, came to visit her family before the Christmas holidays. She came with her mother to church on Sunday morning and, during the altar call, the pastor approached his sister and began to pray with her. Regina then received the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues. What a joyous Christmas for the Brewer family to know that God could bring someone all the way from Arizona and fill her with the Holy Ghost! Not only have complete sinners and backsliders been saved, but also those within the church who had sought the Holy Ghost for many years. One such person was Don. Don, like Cornelius in the book of Acts, was a good man and one who feared God. Nine years ago, he came to church because of his wife and was baptized. He sought the Holy Ghost for some time, but nine years later he still had not yet received it. This time he did. To top off a wonderful night for their family, Don’s five‑year old daughter also received the baptism of the Holy Ghost! Even though Don was a very good man, the change in him since the Holy Ghost is still very evident. Don is on fire and is reaching out to everyone he knows. His sister‑in‑law has since come and received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus’ Name! One last miracle is that of Wayne. Wayne, as a child, went to a Pentecostal church with his family, yet never received the Holy Ghost. He said he thought they were crazy and did not think it was for him. As an adult, Wayne battled alcohol, depression, and anxiety. However, Wayne has two sisters that have prayed for him and witnessed to him for years. While living with one of them, Wayne attended church occasionally on Sunday nights. He did not enjoy being there and hardly spoke to anyone. However, God did not give up on Wayne. One Sunday night, Wayne came in to the service late and had to sit on the very back pew. God dealt with him that whole service and the altar call was barely given before Wayne practically ran to the altar. There he received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus’ mighty name. Since that time, Wayne has gone from being on over 20 pills a day for depression and other health issues to zero pills a day. God has completely restored his body and mind! These are just a few examples
of what God has done through this revival. Revival for Everyone!
