It Isn’t Me
By Maya Davis
March 6, 2006
It’s not about my
burdens
It’s not about my fears
It’s not about where I stand or that I fall.
It’s not about my
trials
It’s not about my troubles
It’s not how sharp or strident my call.
It’s easy to feel
isolated
To think that we stand alone
And that the burden is ours to hold and bear.
But in every
single battle
I do not walk unaided.
He’s near, and hears my every prayer.
It’s all about
His mercy
It’s all about His Grace
And His Compassion that is new with every day.
It’s all about
his Kindness
He will meet my every need
I’m his child and He hears me when I pray.
So in the moments
lonely
When the night is bleak and dark
When no Loving Ears seem to hear my plea.
I must keep this
thought alive—
He guards, He watches, and He answers
He’ll never walk away or abandon me.
My prayers to Him
He hears
My cries He understands.
But my praise, that gets the most attention.
For it’s when my
focus changes
And I only seek His face
That what’s mine and wrong is lost in His reflection.
And I begin to
understand
That this isn’t about my life
It’s about the One who holds it in His hand.
