Print By Randy Bailey Our Human Resources Manager was quite busy in December ensuring that everyone was enrolled for their 2006 benefits. Each afternoon she made her rounds and asked everyone if they have been to the required web page and made their choices for the upcoming year. There were signs hanging up throughout the workplace reminding everyone to enroll before the deadline just in case we did not attend the meetings or somehow missed the numerous letters sent home to remind us. Our company changed the benefit policy and if any employee failed to enroll by the cut-off date they would have no medical or dental coverage for themselves and their families for the entire year. This is the reason that our HR representative was persistent in checking with everyone before the deadline. The same holds true in the spiritual realm for each of us. Jesus paid the ultimate price for mankind to have the best benefit package this world has ever seen. The package includes healing, deliverance, joy, peace, a relationship with the King of kings, and (don't forget) eternal life. No, it is not automatic enrollment as many people believe it to be. This package is obtained through faith and obedience to the plan that the Lord has for us to follow, which can be found in the word of God.
Deadline Approaching I am thankful that the Lord is rich in mercy and is doing all that He can to remind us that there is a deadline approaching. He has given us signs that tell us we are living in the last days, He has given us ministers who announce weekly that we need to be born again and turn to Jesus for everything. As John the beloved wrote, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Revelation 20:15). The Word reminds us how crucial our decision is regarding eternal life. There will be a day when our opportunity will expire and the decision we take to the grave will be the decision that will go with us to eternity. It never ceases to amaze me that people will make sure they do everything necessary to enroll in their earthly benefits, yet they neglect their spiritual decisions or put them off until it is too late Just as my company is doing everything possible to make sure everyone is covered for the upcoming year, Jesus Christ is doing everything to make sure we are covered with the blood and our names are written in the book of life. After all, “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Our way will always be the wrong way, our heart will deceive us and lead us away from the Lord, and, even though there is a way you are following that seems right, it will disappoint you in the end if it is not lined up with the word of God. As scripture reminds us, “Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call” (Acts 2:37-39). The good news is that God is still offering you the chance to enroll in His plan. Obedience to the gospel is the way we make our enrollment valid. It has not changed since it was first announced by Peter on the day of Pentecost. Have you received the ultimate spiritual benefit package?
