Reader's responses to The Big Question
The Question: “What I like best
about living for God is…”
The Answer: “What I like best about
living for God is that His mercies are new every morning. To borrow words from a
recent sermon I heard - you feel different about yourself when you are wearing
new shoes or sporting a new suit. Why wouldn't you feel a hundred times better
about the mercies of God? Our God is amazing!”
The Answer: “As life and
circumstances continually drive you up a corner, at the same time you will
always discover new sides to living for God as you (when you) learn to walk in
faith, i.e., having to totally depend on God, making Him real in your
everyday-life. Living for God becomes a privilege and a joy. Amen!”
The Answer: “Peace when I place my
trust in Him.”
The Answer: “Knowing that when the
world hits me hard, I have Someone to comfort me.”
The Answer: “Peace - no matter how
big the storm!”
The Answer: “His touch and when He
speaks to me. Also how He helps me with life's problems, strengthens me, heals
and always makes a way. I can't imagine life without God. Would I even be alive
today if it weren't for Him?”
The Answer: “The joy that I feel and
just the blessings that God gives me each day. The freedom of worship that I
have. It's just great - everything about living for God is great!”
The Answer: “Sometimes it feels that
I am all alone in this world and if anybody notices me, it is because of what I
am or what I do, but being an Apostolic and living for God gives me the feeling
that I am never alone.”
The Answer: “One of my non-church
friends once commented that she envied me because my life was uncomplicated.
Upon reflection, I realized that living my life for God precludes the stress of
trying to cover up for a lie, explain an extramarital affair, remember what I
did that was so awful while I was drunk, running from the police while dealing
drugs...I could go on and on! I am thankful for the benefits of an uncomplicated
godly life.”
The Answer: “His after-death
benefits!”
The Answer: “Peace like a river.
Having a purpose. Knowing there is more to life than just this life. Having
something intangible, something transcendent. Experiencing what Sartre and
Hemmingway were waiting for.”
The Answer: “Knowing if I don't wake
up, I'm already ‘over there.’”
The Answer: “Knowing He is my
constant companion. Experiencing His presence, knowing His understanding is
infinite. Trusting my life to Him and seeing the impossible happen through me as
I seek to be His vessel to my world.”
The Answer: “Peace of mind in any
situation.”
The Answer: “He is always there and
He takes care of me even when I don't deserve it.”
The Answer: “It never gets boring;
there is something new every day.”
The Answer: “The peace I have
through every storm. But not only in the storm, I have peace to enjoy the good
times, too. I don’t have to worry about what’s coming next or look over my
shoulder or live with horrible guilt. I have peace to enjoy my life and peace to
make it through life. Wonderful peace!”
The Answer: “Him.”
The Answer: “His daily blessing of
the breath of life.”
The Answer: “It's a lot of fun - and
easy - especially when I compare my life to that of my non-churched friends from
school and work.”
The Answer: “The security of knowing
that with God I am never alone, He is always there in the good times and the bad
times.”
The Answer: “Everything! Even when
there are difficult times and trials that I don't think I can bear, I know my
reward will be at the end, so I just want to live sold out knowing my reward is
not now but when I meet Jesus face to face! I love this truth!”
The Answer: “There are really too
many to name, but the peace of God and knowing that you are never alone are
amazing.”
The Answer: “The peace. The ultimate
peace in knowing my Creator is my Savior is my best Friend. I am never alone,
never without help or hope. That amounts to great peace.”
The Answer: “Whenever I need someone
to talk to, God is always there to listen!”
The Answer: “Enjoying the benefits
from everyday life.... health, finances, good relationships. Knowing the answer
to most of life's tough situations - that is Jesus. Everyone needs a great
person in his life. As a Christian I have hundreds of great people that
encourage me and set an example for me. Wow! I am really that rich?”
The Answer: “Having a best buddy by
my side every second of the day!”
The Answer: “The family and the
fellowship that comes with being a part of a church.”
The Answer: “When He talks to me and
moves on me. The fact that the Creator of the universe would not only hear my
prayers, but respond to them and also live in me is humbling and amazing.”
The Answer: “Purpose, No Fear,
Destination, Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, Compassion, Vision, Power.”
The Answer: “The everyday. The
details that have woven my life into something unique and rare. The joy that I
go to sleep with, the hope that I wake up to. What I like best is falling in
love with Him over and over again.”
The Answer: “Free health care and
life insurance.”
The Answer: “Being able to tell
others about Him and teaching Bible studies. It is the best feeling ever!”
