2006 Summons to Sacrifice: Prayer Reports, Prayer Results

By Kay Hamby
June 18, 2006

I went to my first Summons to Sacrifice Prayer Conference from June 8-10, 2006 at the St. Louis Airport Renaissance Hotel in St. Louis, and it was not what I had expected. I don’t know why but I thought it would be boring.  It was definitely not boring—it was one of the most powerful conferences I have been in.

There was a Prayer Leader’s class at 3 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.  People were already coming in at 10 a.m.  Everyone that came was so excited and expecting great things.  It seemed everyone had one thing on their mind, and that was to learn more about how to pray and to make every prayer count.

I would go to this conference about an hour and a half early and there were always people in the conference room praying.  It was obvious that everyone was there for one purpose and nothing was going to stop them.

Dr. Gerald Jeffers from Boston spoke on Thursday night, Friday night, and Saturday morning. His sermons were anointed and heart stirring.  I’ve been in the church for 40 years and had never been told how to really know God like Dr Jeffers was teaching us.  I was just soaking it all in and wanting to learn more.

If I could only go to one conference a year, it would be Summons to Sacrifice.  (The only bad part is they only have it every two years.)  It was absolutely wonderful.  I received a lot and I am so thankful I was able to attend.

Children’s Prayer: 12th Floor and Higher!

By Lyn St. John

It is vital that children learn the power inside of them because of the Holy Spirit. Not only that but after they have received the training they need to be allowed and released into ministry. That was the purpose of the Special Ops team at this year’s Summons to Sacrifice School of Prayer for children on the 12th floor.

Special Ops was formed from a group of over 100 children, ages 3-12. These children came for prayer training and left with a working knowledge of the secret weapon of the Holy Spirit. The workers came with a vision and anticipation. The planning of this event took several months and much prayer. The mission was to teach the kids practical ways of praying that they could use everyday and how much power they have with the Holy Spirit.

Much of the training during the two days focused on being used by the Spirit. This may sound basic but this training is needed to reach the next level.

I already warned you that children have extreme power in the Spirit. At this conference there were two times of dynamic ministry to and from the kids. It was in these times that the Holy Spirit came in and took over. All we had to do was be sensitive and let Him take the controls. The first instance was on Friday evening.

The kids were invited to minister to the adults in the conference. GLOW, a local kid’s ministry team, did a prophetic song (Breathe Prophesy) interpretation using dowel rods and sign language. Then a separate ministry team of kids came to the platform to get quiet before the Lord so that they could give a word from the Lord to the adults. After 60 seconds of silence several kids gave a prophetic word to the assembly. Then the adults came forward to allow the kids to lay hands on them and pray for them.

We then went back to our session with Nancy Anderson of Denver. She taught on crying out to God. As she was speaking the kids were instructed to listen for God to tell them of something to pray for and write it on a slip of paper. At the end of her sermon all of the papers went into a bowl which was placed in the middle of a target on the floor. The kids formed circles around the bowl facing out with arms linked.

The Holy Spirit fell and almost everyone was praying in tongues and not only allowing God to pray through them for their burden, but also for others. This turned into an intense time of ministry and lasted for well over an hour. I believe that strongholds were broken that we only know the results of in Heaven. I also believe that we saw a new generation of Samuels, Josiahs, Moses’, Davids, Pauls, Hannahs, Deborahs, and Marys birthed during that time in the Spirit.

The second instance was during the “key passing” ceremony on Saturday afternoon. It was time to bridge the gap between the generations. The leadership of our generation currently holds the keys for revival, prayer, worship, and more; in order for these things to continue growing we need to pass these on to the next generation. However it can no longer wait until they are teenagers, it needs to happen now. If we (the grownups) do not allow the children to take up our mantle we will lose an entire generation. Kids are hungry for the supernatural and will go to where they can find it. They are also more than able to handle it. As leaders we prayed blessing and impartation into the lives of these children. And then the kids accepted these keys and the responsibility that goes along with it. After that the kids took time to pray for the leadership and minister to our needs.

Not only were the kids changed but God changed the lives of many of the adult workers and is drawing them into new paths of children’s ministry. On a personal level some of the events that occurred during the conference confirmed what I have seen or felt in my spirit for a long time.

If you ask me about the possibility of kids being mightily used by God, be prepared to listen for a while. I knew that they were powerful but now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt.
