May 28, 2007 The Question: What reading are you planning to accomplish this summer?
The Answer: “It’s summer, so nothing deep: I’ll be reading the last Harry Potter book, and I want to re-read the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.” The Answer: “The last Harry Potter book. For those of you who haven’t read any of them, don’t waste your time criticizing what you know nothing about!” The Answer: “Two books on the underground railroad, Blood and Thunder by Hampton Sides, Mornings on Horseback by David McCullough.” The Answer: “The Screwtape Letters is tops on the list.” The Answer: “To Rule the Waves by Authur Herman, For Preachers Only By Bro. J.T. Pugh, John Adams by David McCullough, Critical Mass: How Nazi Germany Surrendered Enriched Uranium for The United States’ Atomic Bomb by Carter Plymton Hydrick, They Smell Like Sheep by Lynn Anderson, and 360 Degree Leader by John C. Maxwell. Can’t think of any fiction that I am enjoying at the time; I am strictly a meat and potatoes reader. Give me history, theology, and practical ministry!” The Answer: “Reading? Readings a winter thing!” The Answer: “Luke, John, Acts, Romans are a few books I plan to read this summer.” The Answer: “Jeremiah & Lamentations.” The Answer: About sick of my non-fiction / Christian instruction diet, so I’ll likely be diving into some juicy novels, as Haruki Murakami’s new title was just released and Michael Ondaatje’s (The English Patient) comes out this week.
