June 4, 2007 We are in the midst of watching Jesus Camp. Maybe it’s me just being cynical, but I get the feeling that the filmmakers have an agenda—and I am getting the feeling that it isn’t all positive in the evangelical’s corner. That said, one can’t help but be pleased that people are taking note of the power of children as Christians and showing others how effective they can be. Except we come to Him as a little child…it’s right there in the Book!
Don’t be caught in the Summer slump! We could use your letters and articles, so send them our way when you have a thought.
Re: “Sister Jean Urshan”
I was so glad to be able to read the details of Sister Jean Urshan’s funeral. I kept her in my prayers. Everything that was said and the funeral was so true, but words fail to describe Sister Jean Urshan. I had the privilege as an evangelist, preaching for Brother and Sister Urshan, living in their home for a month. My daughter Jayne Ann, and their daughter Sharon, were best of friend. We will miss her so. Her song, Just To Behold His Face, will forever be on my mind.
When she and Brother Nathan were married, one of their first revivals was in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. They stayed in my home. I talked with her after Bro. Urshan’s passing, and she was so kind. Heaven will be wonderful, and I know she is now teaching angel’s how to sing.

Re: “Ask Andy, ‘Lust’”
I would like to add to Bro. Andy Smith’s great answer and focus on our beautiful Apostolic young ladies (they are all beautiful in my opinion). Please, please, please! Think about how you dress! You may have all your ‘bases covered’ and still illicit lustful thoughts in men, especially in church. Certain clothes can frame your figure in a provocative way even if they cover your skin. Please ditch the tight skirts and criss-cross tops that outline certain areas of your figure. There are plenty of styles of dress that are beautiful and tasteful without having to shape your outline. Certain gaudy hairstyles can also be a distraction, such as ‘bedroom hair’ of which I see quite a bit of in the UPC.
Also, I am not sure if some of the younger girls realize that the male attention they so crave at their age cannot be invited through sensual appearance. Shallow, spiritually challenged or lukewarm guys will usually go for the ‘hot’ girls. But if you are looking for positive attention from spiritually mature, humble gentlemen; focus on your personality and portray yourself as the virtuous woman of their dreams through sincere worship and selfless devotion to the Kingdom.
Just my two cents worth from a very happily married Apostolic gentleman who loves God and loves to see young people grow in faith and truth. Only through your sincere relationship with God will your true beauty shine through!
