Out of Chaos Comes…God? By Phillip Johnson
The
Bible begins at creation
for a reason deeper than it being the beginning. There is a powerful lesson to
be learned in these first couple verses. Darkness
comes at us from many different directions and it can be suffocating. The
loss of a loved one, financial disaster, natural disaster, sickness, sin, you
name it. It can leave you emotionally and spiritually in the middle of the
living room not sure if you should go back or risk further injury. In verse 2 of Genesis 1 we find the earth without shape, empty, full of chaos, and covered in darkness. When you think of the size of the earth, if the darkness mentioned is literally covering the earth, that is an awful lot of darkness. However, verse two ends positively—“And the Spirit of God moved…”
