Sometimes you think you are just passing by in life and—wham!—you are on a ride that you didn’t sign up for! So it was for this young man in Michigan! It seems as if all turned out just fine, but it is the “what ifs” that can make a person go mad.
I have a nine-year-old who loves reading about tornadoes, then he spends the next three weeks worrying about them coming to destroy our house. I am feverishly trying to teach him that our worrying does not give God any credit—it actually diminishes His power. Faith in Him isn’t just saying we have faith, but it is mental faith too, belief in that which we do not see—and that which we do not understand. It sounds really simple, but even the simplest things in life must be repeated for us to practice them!
If you were unaware, we’ve begun two new group blogs in July that offer readers an Apostolic spin on music /songwriting and writing / books. Give them a visit, won’t you?
Re: “Paint a Nude in Art Class”
I am a very Christian person and lead a very Christian life. Yes, you should paint it, but be careful. When I was in college, I was almost kicked out of school for a photography class that involved a series of photographs printed on to canvas (back then that was very difficult). The poses were classical and there was no overt nudity except in one picture that showed part of a breast. There was no sexuality. The two loudest groups looking to lynch me were, the feminists, comprised primarily of young women that didn’t like men, and the school’s Christian club. I did feel good that I was able to unite these two groups, if even for a short time.
The person with treachery in their heart is the first to see it in another. A person with lust in their heart will see it anywhere they look. Do the painting, the people that cry foul are the people with a darkness in their heart. If they are offended, they shouldn’t look. There are many things I don’t look at. But hey, I have to go help one of my 87-year-old neighbors with some work around his house. It is Sunday and sometimes church is better spent doing rather than talking.

Re: “Creation and Chaos”
I will not claim to know even close to everything on the subject of Creation. Bro. Arlo Moehlenpah has a pretty good corner on that market. I do however have a little problem with the desire of some Christians wishing to accept the premise that the Earth is hundreds of millions of years old. It is a flawed premise. A little bit of study and you don’t even need to use scripture to refute that idea.
Evolutionists claim the earth is hundreds of millions of years old because they need it to be that old in order for their theories on the evolution of man to hold up. Did you catch that? That’s called circular reasoning. They assume they are correct about evolution, and so they interpret all data in a way that supports their theory.
The facts are that all the “proofs” they use to say the earth is old are weak at best. They hold tight to radiocarbon-14 dating as well as other radiometric dating methods. Radiocarbon dating once dated a living snail at over 5,000 years old! A quick Google search turns up a multitude of the problems with radiometric dating methods.
Perhaps they will point to the geologic column. I know they touted it to me throughout school at every level. I’m sure you’ve seen it. The picture where the supposed layers of rock show all the different ages earth has been through. The most recent rock is on top, with the oldest on the bottom. They say this shows the earth must be millions of years old. The problem here is that actual full occurrences of the geologic column almost never exist. John Woodmorappe stated that in all the earth it could be found about 1 percent of the time, whereas 99 percent of the time it was never found intact. In truth you can very easily find throughout the planet places where what should be some of the most ancient rock is found above what should be recent rock layer.
There are a dozen more sciences and studies that point to a young earth—magnetic field breakdown, rate of nitrogen filling the atmosphere, etc. Again, a Google search can open up a world of information if we Christians would quit being “Science-phobic” and look into the facts. Evolution science is not nearly as solid as the humanists would have you believe.
