As I write this, the UPCI’s General Conference is winding down and many are starting their journeys home (if they haven’t already). There were many successful meetings and issues determined, much of which was recorded in our General Conference blog, and others will be followed up in the weeks to come through reports and articles. Make sure to tune in every week to ninetyandnine.com (updated every Monday) to see the happenings in our movement, and to share your thoughts and opinions!

Have a great week!

Re: "What Christian Music Should Be"

This article is by far the most articulate, well-written, and thoroughly correct piece I've read thus far on the subject of Christian music. Cassandra, you're exactly right. Music was designed to be a tool of worship, not of self, but of God. It's not about people and their preferences, as you so eloquently state. It's about lifting God up. I'm all about singing songs that do just that, and if it's a worship chorus, great. If it's a choir song, great. If it's in a hymnal, great. If it lifts the name of Jesus higher, bring it on.

Thanks for your sage and solid input.

Re: "TV or Not TV? That Is the Question – Against Broadcasting on Television"

One person said: “Some people make the mistake of thinking that all in favor of our standard of restriction of television also regard the television viewer as unsaved."

LOL !!!

Well, just listen to a majority of those in favor of the TV ban preach against TV and you would understand why "some people" would get that impression!

My opinion is that if the TV issue were left to the individual pastors, it would quickly become a non-issue!

The very small minority would be against TV and a lot of Saints would be shopping for the UPC church that allowed it!

That's my 3 cents worth......

Re: “Silence of God by Mary Jo McConnell"

I know so well that silence while waiting on the Father's move in your life. For me, it comes at times when the deadline is just 2 doors down.

I am not sure what God wants me to do this time? I am usually so scared that I am sure I waste this precious time.

But always, each and every time, when I look back He was right on time. Funny, how I know all will be alright in the inside but the outside I am a whirlpool of Help me Father..I am falling!

I think the silence is a good thing, a growing time and certainly a time to tuck yourself under His Wing.

Any suggestions of how to step out boldly while waiting for the Father to make the way?
