Reader's
responses to The Big Question.

The
Question: A reader asks: In today’s world, is a newly married couple
required to have as many children as God/biology/laws of physics will allow? Is
it right to decide to not have kids?”
The
Answer: “If we had as many kids as our bodies would allow, we would be
living in poverty.”
The
Answer: “I think God gives me the intelligence to know that I can't afford
10 children!”
The
Answer: “I believe it depends upon the will of God for each specific
couple. Philippians 2:13 says: ‘For it is God which worketh in you both to
will and to do of his good pleasure.’ Some couples do not feel led of God to
have children themselves.
Also
some get married at a later age in their late 20's or early 30's or later and
don't feel led to start a family at that age, even though they may have if they
had gotten married younger.”
The
Answer: “Honestly I am trusting God in all areas of life. Not just the
ones I feel like trusting Him. You need to pray and see what God wants of you. I
am called to be a mom, on #5, but that is what God wants of me. Talk to Him and
He will direct thy path.”
The
Answer: “Yes!”
The
Answer: “I'm not sure that physics has much to do with it, but I don't
think we're bound under the ‘replenish the earth’ order.”
The
Answer: “I don't think it has anything to do with right or wrong! It’s
just a personal preference.”
The
Answer: “LOL! That is funny! As many as God allows.. .That is up to you.
He made us in the beginning people of choice! --Mother of one.”
The
Answer: “We have the knowledge to prevent having too many kids. We also
know the limited resources on the Earth. Shouldn't we conserve the resources we
have been given?”
The
Answer: “The Bible says something along the lines of ‘Blessed is the man
whose quiver is full,’ speaking about children. Abraham had 12 children; two
of his heart and ten of his flesh. I firmly believe that, sometimes, a man's
quiver can be just as full without children, as it is with 12. My husband
married into a quiver of two children, and we didn't plan to have more - our
quiver was full with two! Nine years later...surprise! Now our quiver is full
with three. God will direct you and your husband on how large your family should
be if you'll let Him.”
The
Answer: “God only told people to reproduce when the earth's population was
dramatically reduced. Nothing says you have to keep cranking them out like
rabbits now, and given issues with over population that we will be facing,
it’s just stupid. No one has the right to tell me as a woman that I must use
my body in this manner.”
