Re: Resolution IV Results Just In

No matter what I say here it will not change what has happened....allowing 'us' on TV. That breaks my heart and I still believe it is wrong and as a young 23-year-old mother I will always teach my children that! Shame on us for this!

Re: Just How Important is a Musical Artist’s Lifestyle?

If you go the lifestyles of songwriters, you will have to quit using the “Wedding March” for weddings. I haven't researched it, but I once worked with a Lutheran music director. They aren't allowed to use this music since the author was pagan. Also, I understand a lot of our hymns were original worldly tunes. All this has always been interesting to me, since I have played in church most of my life.

Re: Living the Applestolic Life

Profound article. Brilliant comparison between Apple and the Apostolic lifestyle! Good work!

Re: Living the Applestolic Life

As an equally professing Mac Evangelist (since my first Quadra 660 to my new Mac Book Pro and the other 4 Macs currently in the home), I, too, have been inspired by the unique history, marketing and cultural buzz. Let's talk about customer service. Entering each Mecca of Mac, I am always greeted and share an immediate bond with the Apple rep. We connect on the knowledge that we are one of the family. The support is always available and everyone is happy to share ‘happy Mac’ stories. You actually share concern for those still trapped in the PC environment, those who bought the hype that serious businesses are Microsoft. Only. Sad for them, but hopeful that one day they will byte the Apple, too. I say this with the sadness that we have often entered our church only to be greeted at the door by greeters who move us along to the sanctuary where we have corporate worship and move on out to that cup of coffee (no longer complimentary because we have a coffee bar) and often never are asked if we need upgraded or rebooted (figuratively, of course). This we have noted often (and we are regulars at both locations!).

As Applestolic Christians, we should celebrate our superior operating systems and stand ready and waiting to embrace the frustrated PC user who reboots, crashes and reinstalls over and over until they give up and say -- what can I do? You have to remind them that the cost is higher -- but you have a real Genius Bar to call upon. No reservations needed -- uncompromising results.

Re: Resolution IV Results Just In

Sadly, even I have mused that probably the ‘P’ in UPC stands for politics and have asked, ‘What is united about United Pentecostal?’(claiming myself to just be Apostolic), but the issue here that really brings sensationalism within the media and churches is gossip and media stories about those high ups within the UPCI organization who have been arrested or convicted for illegal activity. That is, after all, what ruined the PTL ministry of its day, not the fact that they were so successful on TV and with fundraising to further the gospel.

Now that the TV issue has passed with this year's General Conference, the organization as a whole needs to repent to those past progressives like Mark Hamby and Kenneth Phillips and others who were rather disfellowshipped (or disfellowshipped themselves) for their strong and pointed TV views a couple of decades ago.

Isn't it also in the UPCI history that there was also a day when the UPCI was against radio?

The issue to me here is one of holiness and purity and now that the UPCI has voted in the TV age of ministry, will their lives be worthy to be even more closely scrutinized by the world or will they merely become a group of televangelists, performers and entertainers nearly devoid of the true movement and unction of the Holy Ghost?

Re: The Passion of the Christ

Umm...a little confused here. Since when do Apostolics go to theaters to watch movies?
