Letters November 26, 2007 In this week’s paper there were ads galore informing all who would notice that they would be open for business this weekend with all sorts of deals. Some stores began handing out line tickets at 3 a.m. on Friday morning. Other stores just opened at 4 a.m. To be perfectly honest, there isn’t anything in this world worth that type of madness to me.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I do love getting a bargain but not at the cost of spending hours on end waiting for it. My bargains just have to kind of happen to me or a kind all-knowing friend will call me and let me in on the deal. It’s at that point that I might follow up on the bargain, but it has to be something that is really needed or wanted.
The reality in all this merchandise madness is that someone somewhere has done a remarkable job of marketing those particular item(s) in that particular store. Why else would people wait hours on end? So, my question to fellow believers is—what are we doing wrong that people are not congregating at our doors hours before we are “open?” Why have we not “marketed” Jesus so effectively that people who don’t think they need Him feel the urge to come and see anyway? I guess that is a question for all of us to think about.
Our light in this world is that day-to-day interaction with each other—do we exemplify him? Or do we just coexist without ever “marketing” Him to them in a positive way? Just a thought . . .

Re: “One Man’s Dream”
It is a good letter and well written. It was quite informative. I am saddened to hear of Bishop Brazier leaving the PAW.
