Letters

December 31, 2007

By the time many of you read this it will be 2008. So what does this year mean to you? What will it mean for us?

Kent and I always take the time out to write down our reflections of the past year and our goals for the new year. It really isn’t a “new year’s resolution” list—it’s a list on which we can gauge our progress and keep us focused throughout the new year.

It never ceases to amaze me how there is always something that has occurred this year that I would have never have imagined at the beginning of last year. The “something” might be a national occurrence or it might be something a little closer to home—of course, these can never be predicted. But what I can predict is increasing my prayer time, my Bible reading, and improving myself in a number of ways.

Sometimes I have found people who smirk at others who make lists regarding their future; well, I smirk at them for not making goals/plans for their future. Tonight I hung a little sign over my stove that signifies my motto for this year, “Simplify—Live Simply, Live Well.” I intend to do this—with stuff and with commitments; the truth is I will probably spend all of 2008 trying to simplify!

Re: “Art”

What in the world are you all talking about? Why do Apostolics even act so afraid of nudity when they watch all the crap they want on the TVs they are not supposed to have or at other people’s homes. I was in it for a while but I went to a Charismatic church because at least there they do it in the open and not in secret as long as the cliques are in it. Sick sick sick. Wake up and get real!

It is wrong but not just because you felt like saying today but tomorrow you’re at your cousins or someone’s watching Will and Grace. All fake! I got sick of it. It’s rare that you find a church that actually holds to the unbiblical rules.  A set free Coloradan.

Re: “Forbidden to Attend Church”

Joanne, this was a very encouraging article for those of us who know young people not permitted to attend services. Bless you for taking the time to write your story.
