Still Single on Valentines Day. So What?

By Rachael Hartman

I hope that this past year has brought you a lot of happy memories and that you, like me, have found yourself calmly approaching this year’s Valentine’s Day with few regrets in the dating department.

I’m happy to report that my dating life is up by 400 percent from last year. This is mainly due to some great books I have read that have helped me shape my approach to dating.

Come to find out, it was my own mentality holding me back all of these years! Pretty amazing discovery, huh? BTW, I still have a lot to learn; I have found that the more I learn the more I realize how much I still don’t know!

My recommended reading list would make the perfect Single-Valentine’s Day gift to give to yourself. Who knows, with a little more knowledge on how to approach dating the right way, you may find that your Single-Valentine’s Days are numbered!

            1. How to Get a Date Worth Keeping, by Dr. Henry Cloud

            2. He’s Just Not That Into You, by Greg Behrendt & Liz Tuccillo

            3. Every Woman’s Battle, by Shannon Ethridge

Of course, that list is for the females among us.

How About You Guys?

For guys, I recommend the first book, How to Get a Date Worth Keeping, and Every Man’s Battle, by Steven Arterburn.

And for guys that just don’t understand why every woman they pursue snubs them, try reading He’s Just Not That Into You and substituting “She” for “He,” but from what I’m told, most guys get that concept of “she’s just not that into you.”

Remember that you are in control of your life! As character Nick Mercer (Dermot Mulroney) said in The Wedding Date, “Every woman has the exact love life that she wants.” Ladies, if you are unhappy with your single situation, all it takes is a few minor adjustments in the way you think (and maybe moving to Texas, like I did).

God + Texas = Dates

In all seriousness, I am amazed at where God is taking my mentality through the influences He has placed in my life. This year I’ve learned a lot about myself. I’ve experienced things I never thought I’d experience, and I’ve come to grips with parts of myself that I’ve tried to hide for years.

Stay encouraged! Whatever area of your life is in a rut, you CAN climb out through the power of God! If you take the first step (or two or three), He will guide you the rest of the way!

I believe that this is the year you can reach a spiritual breakthrough in the dating realm as well as in any other area of your life that you’ve been stuck in.

Jesus is your ultimate soul-mate and He knows exactly what He is doing in your life. He wants every area of your life bring Him glory and bless His kingdom. That includes your love life!

God Bless and Happy Valentines Day!  :)
