Balance Beam

June 29, 2009

By Carolyn Harrington

In the midst of my calamity

I can, in the end, do nothing

but turn it over to God.

Not that I didn't side up to Him

from the beginning; but somehow

my whole being -

      depth of soul,

          breadth of mind,

            core complete -

has left its own course

and balances on mere faith in God.

Indeed, it is a balancing feat

to not be pulled just that fraction toward reason

to cause that teetering on one foot,

arms circling in mid-air - then

other leg out, I sway,

(sigh) both feet on solid faith ground.

I almost fell, that was close. Heart pounding.

(Thank you Jesus).

      Breathe.

          Breathe.

            Peace.
