Headin' Out To Save Lives, One Foley At a Time
This evening, at 7:00pm, I will be reporting on at work at the ER, or Emergency Center, Level One Trauma to be exact, at the same moment Roger Federer takes Center Court at the U.S. Open. I've been going through an extensive orientation this summer, and there is light shining from the end of the tunnel. I was a fireman/paramedic before I became an RN, and so far I'm not looking back. The night shift sort of grows on me, each night less tiresome, hitting a groove around midnight. I'm not making the money Roger's making, but am doing better than fireman's wages. Nursing as a male occupation is tough, what with all the female nurses swarming around. It's rough, but someone's got to do it, and it might as well be me!
