Jeremy: Pre-Youth Congress Hysteria...
There’s nothing like the pressure of last minute packing.
Upon coming home last night from work, I was pumped. My mind was geared – I had all intentions of getting into the “zone” and performing a personal, record-breaking 30 minute pack job for NAYC. Unfortunately, there’s always Murphy’s Law (anything that can go wrong, will go wrong) to contend with…..and so it was, of all the things to happen…..the night before Youth Congress…...my electricity went out!
Grrrrr……..my “zone” was destroyed.
Finally, an eternity later (probably 20 minutes), the lights came back on. But the damage was already done. I no longer had the focus and determination I carried earlier. In fact, I was now too tired to pack. So I took a nap.
I woke up at eleven.
Grrrr.
Why does this happen to me every time?! It doesn’t matter how hard I try, if it’s not one thing or another, I’m always left scampering around in a hysterical madness at the last minute trying to find my last pair of clean black dress socks or iron my favorite shirt which I’ve probably worn to the past 5 Youth Congress’. I guess it’s all a part of the Pre-Youth Congress Hysteria – and that’s why I love it!
What’s a Youth Congress trip without being totally frazzled from shot nerves and sleep deprivation? I was up so late last night that my contacts literally adhered to my eyeballs.
Here's another cartoon.
