GC Live Blogging - Intro - SJC

It's meeeeee again!!!

Hello Everyone!

Yes, I have been invited back for another year by the famous editor of 90 & 9. This was even after I sent him a writing sample to verify my grammar and spelling skills. Kent has graciously allowed us to decide how to introduce ourselves this year. For those of you who remember last year we had a form introduction to fill out. So here goes:

"Hi, my name is Steve Cousino and I live in Vermont. I was kidnapped by space aliens when I was seven years old and sent me back to earth endued with all the wisdom of the universe. Of course no one understands me, so that's why I have been diagnosed as a schizophrenic. Anyway, I am here this week to help those of you who couldn't go to GC to be able to experience it vicariously."

My real introduction

Whoops... Let me try that again. My name really is Steve Cousino, and I wasn't kidnapped by space aliens when I was younger although some people may wonder about that. I am comfortably mature and married to a wonderful woman who has put up with me for 18 years. We have seven children so I tell people we are Pentecostal Mennonites. I pastor a church in Jericho, Vermont, where I have attended for almost 24 years and have been the pastor for slightly over seven of those years.

This is the seventh GC I have attended and this one looks like it's going to be pretty good. For those of you who remember my remarkable photography from last year I have once again brought my camera. I had a slight moment of panic as I wondered if I had the USB cable to connect and download my photos to my computer. I have an IBM T42 ThinkPad for a traveling computer and it does not have a media card reader. Any way I have located the USB cable so stay tuned for more remarkable photos. One problem is people wonder what in the world you are doing when you're snapping pictures of the Hyatt Regency lobby.

Who said GC was cheap?

I am staying at the Hyatt Regency which is one of the headquarters’ hotels and is $134.00 per night. That's in addition to $12.00/ night parking fee and $9.99/ night internet connection access. I'm not sure what the daily tax is, but I'm relatively sure it's in the double digits by the time all is said and done; good thing I'm splitting the room cost with our district youth president!

Let's be a martyr

Nothing is too great a sacrifice to bring you live GC conference blogging from the seat of the action. Actually, I would have been here anyway if I wasn't blogging, but it sounds more martyr-like if I phrase it like this. I prefer to be at the HQ's hotel since it is close to everything and I don't have to drive.

If you haven't already figured this out I am a lengthy poster, so if they suddenly get shorter I'm either extremely tired or the famous editor of 90 & 9 has kindly told me to shorten it up.

Why do Pentecostals always like to take shots at Amish/Mennonites? Because Amish/Mennonites are actually ((living holy)), that's why.
Shines pretty brightly next to the "fashion followers" of the world, doesn't it?

Actually it wasn't a "shot" as I have a lot of respect for anyone who chooses to live a separated Christian lifestyle. It was a reflection on how unusual it is for anyone to have a large family nowadays. We were initially asked, while we were in the hospital for our seventh child, if we were Catholic.

Hope this clarified the comment for you, and I’m sorry if it came across as a “shot.”
