UPCI General Conference 2006 - kdc
We’re group blogging from Columbus, Ohio this week, a strange cohort more excited about slight internet notice than accumulated sleep. (We’ve done this before from Columbus and Richmond, VA). This group will feature all experienced bloggers from angles as diverse as a booth worker, a WEC staffer, a pastor, two posting for the 24 hours (or less) they’ll be here, & an ex-AIMer.
But What About Me?
I arrived Tuesday (Sept 26th) morning for roughly 8 hours of meetings (awww!) with Word Aflame Publications, spotty sleep (SOB!), and an entire day of display setup today for PPH (Oh! The agony!)
Now I listen to Jonny Lang typing into the abyss of the Crowne Plaza's spastic wireless service (my laptop just informed me I’m now stealing the Hyatt’s wireless service. Hmmm. They made us pay last year and we stayed in their rooms!).
News?
That said, about the only noteworthy events worth mentioning (besides running into fellow-blogger SJC and my wonderful wife arriving w/in the hour), is:
* One source said tonight’s singspiration was the best ever.
* Another source called out of the arena to say they’d better end it quick because people were leaving in droves.
* Those people who didn’t escape early were met with a torrential downpour as their reward for staying until the end.
* Columbus is a good city for UPCI-type meetings, just as it was last year for North American Youth Congress. (You knew NAYC was going to be in Charlotte, NC next year, yes?) The only problem is the booths are several blocks (again) from the arena.
* One source says that if Resolution 6 passes (allowing UPCI church to advertise on TV), every church in the Western (California) district will exit the organization, except for 12. This is the kind of Conference tidbit that circulates wildly from all sides when a controversial resolution is under consideration. Who knows how pastors will react, but that seems an extreme move to me. We’ll see though. Rez 6 will be under consideration as early as tomorrow (maybe).
And that’s it for me!
I still have to see if I can post these immortal words (Awww!) before getting some spotty sleep (SOB!) and working a hard day at the PPH display tomorrow (Oh! the inhumanity!).

I should have known you wouldn't be profane, but my eyeballs smacked the back of my glasses until I realized you were "sobbing" not swearing. :)
I have a theory that the severity of the climate of the districts in which each minister resides is directly proportional to the way he/she will cast his/her vote on Res 6. The harsher the weather, the more likely a minister will be to vote "no."
I thought the same as Liz. SOB has always has another menaning to me other than crying.
Gave me a good laugh though wwhen I realized what he meant.
Is it true at the end of the singing they had CBS TV with CSI being broadcast on the large screens?!?
OK, I'm glad I'm not alone here. I was a little mortified until I figured it must have another meaning. Sorry you're not getting enough sleep.
**WHEW** Thank you for clearing that up Liz! I wanted to SOB when I when I thought she was being profane too! :D
