Happiness, age, and Death

Well, we celebrated my brother and Dad's B-days today. And I'll go ahead and let you know the most important piece of information about me. Cheesecake is my sinful self-indulgence. I LOVE IT! Anyway, we had a chef here in Memphis make a White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cheesecake with a white chocolate moose drizzle and white chocolate chips on top. OMG! It was incredible! But I digress, back to the earth's atmosphere. I am completely worn out from the festivities. I sat for an hour and played Madden '07 with my little cousin who has a new infatuation with the Nintendo Gamecube. (I'm more of an Xbox 360 man myself. Well, I take it back. I'm really into the old-school Nintendo. You know -- Da Da Da Da Da DA da . . . and so on and so forth . . . This has gone on WAY too long. lol) But I spent the bulk of my day trying to repair a connection with my wireless internet provider through my router at the church today. It was a futile attempt to say the least. I did however achieve SOME internet response. The meter now reads, "Internet connection -- Low strength (and rising)" But I managed to eliminate every option that would point to it being a problem with the "provider." That would leave the only hitch in the "layout" to be the "receiver." The way I went about fixing this is, I had to open up my "list of available networks," then I had to move my ISP (Internet Service Provider) up to the top position. This means that when I need information or anything from the internet, that the first "connection" that the computer "looks for" is my ISP. This struck some very interesting parallels for me today.

A lot of the time we think that when we can't get a "connection" with God, that it's a "provider" problem or that He's "hidden" Himself somewhere. But maybe it's just that we need to "re-prioritize" our list of connections so that He is the first One that we turn to. Because there's a lot of things to connect to that will temporarily fix your problem or give you something that "might" work for a little while. But eventually, you'll lose your connection. If I , or any Christian for that matter, can grasp the concept that "it's NOT all about me and MY desires, then we're well on the way to establishing a better "connection" with God. And I say "on the way" because once I prioritized my list of connections, the meter still read, "connection low (and rising)." It's not a quick thing once you get back on track. You were used to living for yourself, but you have to let your connection grow, and live your life for God. That's my random thoughts for the night.

Bye all,
Billiam
