I Met Dora! And other exciting things from this morning's NAYC--SarahK
Front RunnersSo the place went crazy when Bro Gaddy announced the third and final interview for this morning's front runners. 17 year old Kathy Herles, better known to all as Dora the Explorer, came out on stage and did a ten minute interview discussing how she came to be Dora (through auditions and prayer) and when she got the holy ghost (at age 7) and how she put together a mini choir of her church friends to sing at her Nickelodeon sponsored 15th birthday party.
Beforehand she told me, "Oh sorry, I'm nervous!" And after doing a great job, she fought the crowds (literally, she was being pulled through and people were yelling "Dora!") to do a live interview out at the entrance of the Bobcat with Kent Curry! She told him she wants to continue auditioning and working on her acting, and that she is really good friends with Boots and Backpack. I know!! Seriously!!
No less interesting were the frontrunner interviews with the youth group out of Illinois who made the guiness book of world records for their SFC offering by linking together one dollar bill at a time, for what reached over a mile and a half. They intend to beat their record this year! Also, the incredible young man who may be short in stature, but told Kent Curry in the afterview that he's always looking for the next challenge he can beat!
Our Offering is going to Africa!
On an exciting note this morning Bro Shay Mann took up the day offering and let us know that this offering is headed to help purify water in Africa. Who says Pentecostals don't have a social conscience? Here at NAYC we're proving them wrong!
