A Little Bit of Pride and Prejudice?

In January I did an engagement session at City Park in New Orleans for a long-ago sort-of-childhood - more around middle school - friend, Kelly, and her fiance Jesse that saw my site.

Side note: This pavillion is actually where I really really wanted to get married, but that didn't happen coz all of our friends are in the Denham Springs area and it would have been too far for his family. However, I am shooting a wedding here in May. I'm not sure if I'll be happy or jealous.

Anyway, it was a typical rainy, cold New Orleans winter day so we took shelter under one of the pavillions. I caught a shot of the couple embracing that is just incredibly adorable. Here's where the Pride and Prejudice thing comes in. The couple and everyone they have shown the picture to says it looks like the scene where Mr. Darcy first proposes to, and is rejected by, Lizzy during their stay a Rosings. (FYI, it's nothing like the book... I am a Jane Austen fanatic.) It is a gorgous scene with the columns and the rainy day, similar to what I was able to capture for my couple.

If you haven't seen the movie, rent it! It's a fabulous Hollywood true in essence but not in detail remake of the book.

If you have, what do you think? Does it look similar? Does it not? Let me know!

For a refresher... this is the location where the scene was shot... The Apollo Temple at Stourhead Estate in Wiltshire, England. By the way...the house that Mr. Bingly, his sister and Mr. Darcy stay at is the house on the estate. I couldn't find a still of Darcy and Elizabeth in the temple but here's a picture of the temple:

And here is the picture of the couple:

And here's another candid shot of the couple that I think is great because these two are just so hilarous. It's at their pastor's house, where Jesse proposed after giving his testimony.

How could you not want a funny face engagement picture?!

Comments:
just so you know--there's a new series out that's a Pride and Prejudice from Darcy's view and is in a 3 part set. (My cousin is currently borrowing, so I don't have the author's name right in front of me). I read the books and WHAM, saw clearly what they based the new movie upon. All the "major lines" in the movie come from this book set. They're surprisingly good!!

Thanks for letting me know! I'll have to check them out.

I will admit, though, I am usually skeptical when people write stories and series off of an Austen novel, coz I'm afraid they won't do the original justice.

But coz you say they're good, I will give them a go! I love a good book!
