DEPARTURE

With Love . . .
Thanks for reading the Hoover’s blog this past week.
It has been our privilege, and we have thoroughly enjoyed “blogging” – something our version of Microsoft Word denies the existence of.
May God’s richest blessings be yours this Holiday Season, and may His eternal hope remain ever present in your heart!
It has been an incredible year in our lives and we are sincerely grateful for having experienced it, and for having the opportunity to share some of it with you.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Holiday Greetings from the Hoover House!
Holiday greetings from the Hoover House! What a special treat to pop in and say hello to one and all reading this blog. We greatly enjoyed our stint here in July, and are anxious to again open the window of our lives for a few days.
God has blessed the Hoovers in many ways in this past year, and we have become very busy people – not saying we were slackers before!
The twelve days of Christmas are in full swing and Holiday Cheer abounds... well at least in theory!
We are recovering from last week’s damaging ice storm, complete with power outages and damage from fallen trees. Then the last few days we got a blanket of snow, which is beautiful, but hazardous on the areas still covered with ice. I saw several cars in ditches and overturned on Saturday, and I had to attach snow chains to my service van to make it home.

Power outages always mean a rush of calls for chimney sweeps because of demand for alternative heat sources. For us, this is a difficult dilemma since our schedule is full to mid January. Twelve to sixteen hour days have become the norm for my assistants and I.
I will take snow over ice any day for working conditions. Either way it looks like YakTrax will be standard gear for this Missouri chimney sweep. If you live where there is a remote chance of ice or snow you need a pair of YakTrax. It would also make a very practical and functional Christmas gift. They are awesome!
Officially, winter starts next Saturday, December 22nd. I think we got a head start.
Kristin has a cooking/dining event scheduled in our home tonight and she will post next.

Tribute to the Meeks Family

Tribute to the Meeks Family
Our experience with ABC’s Wife Swap was a good one. We thank God for the Meeks family and their continued friendship with the Hoover family.
While our parenting styles differ, we see much in the Meeks family that is honorable and noteworthy. Basically, the Meeks children Benji and Hannah, are well mannered, taught to treat others with respect, and do share quality moments with their parents.
From their fundraising efforts in “Susan G. Komen for the Cure” to their ability to pursue a dream, the Meeks family is indeed extraordinary. Tish’s generosity and genuine love for children, and Tony’s willingness to reconnect to God are tokens of the greatness in their hearts. They “Rock”!
Both Tony and Tish possess leadership qualities to impact their world in a positive way, and we expect many lives will be affected in their realm of influence. The Hoover House will never quite be the same … with electric guitars and “Kristin’s Night Off”, “Everybody Loves Spring”!

Countdown
YIKES!It’s pretty incredible to check a TV Guide and see your name in print! In our town’s weekly newspaper we received front page coverage about ABC’s Wife Swap re-airing on July 23rd. On the ABC Wife Swap website, our name is listed as the next episode to air. Yikes!
Granted, the media splash was much larger prior to the original broadcast, when we spent days for TV, radio and newspaper interviews, not to mention our favorite with Ninetyandnine. A writer for the Atlantic Monthly also took note.
Please join with us in prayer that other lives will be impacted for the glory of God.
One of the greatest blessings of participating on Wife Swap is the new friends we have made with some viewers. God has opened numerous doors for us to directly minister to people. Yesterday, we received a letter in the Hoover House mailbox from one of these special friends. She has given me permission to blog the note, and I think it will bless you. The following are excerpts, but the entire letter will soon be posted on the Viewer Response Page of the Hoover House website.
From the Hoover House Mailbox
“I had never seen "Wife Swap" before the night the Hoover's appeared on the show, it became quite the talk of the town.
Even though I had seen Kristen many times at soccer games (at our local soccer fields) I did not have the nerve to confront her.
The night I watched the show I felt the Spirit of God so strongly that I just knew I had to meet Kristen and talk with her face to face.
Out of the clear blue one night I was invited to play the piano for a praise and worship service at a Woman’s meeting in a town near Versailles. I was not aware at the time that Kristin would be one of the speakers. After the service I had the wonderful opportunity to have a bite to eat and strike up conversation with her.
Since that night Kristen and I try to have Bible study and prayer at least once a week. My husband and I have had the opportunity to meet Kristen's husband Steve, and NO! he is not at all the dictating husband he appeared to be on the show. He is a very funny and friendly man.
Our family has been honored to attend a powerful church service with the entire Hoover family. We had much fun and felt so at home with them that there is no doubt we have gained a great and everlasting friendship. Not only here, on this earth, but for ETERNITY as well.
Their testimony from the show and knowing them personally has changed the lives of my family...........
Thank you "Hoover Family" for listening and doing God's will.”
And I, in turn, want to thank the Lord Jesus for His amazing works!
