Have an idea or an article without a zine to publish it in? Send it to us!  ninetyandnine.com is always interested in fresh thoughts from new and established writers.

We’re not demanding the next Tolstoy or Dante (though they would be welcome), but rather someone of any age wishing to minister to our core audience (College age to young marrieds/professionals) by sharing their talents, viewpoints, and life. That’s all Jesus wants and that’s all we require.

Having said that, a certain quality is desired. Content guidelines are below:

ninetyandnine.com Writer’s Guidelines

Article Length:

Cover Story 1000-2000 words (4-8 pages/DS)
Series Article 500-750 words (2 pages/DS)
Book/CD Reviews

500ish words (2 pages/DS)

Content is written for readers like you. Let it sparkle with style, attitude, energy, and sass without being condescending or self indulgent.  Our object is to offer solutions & alternatives through victorious Christian living without ignoring the realities of life. The realities of life often make victorious Christian living difficult. That truth makes for good articles!

Don’t insult yourself by plagiarizing. Write from the heart.  Please include at least one scripture in your article. Scriptures should be italicized and in quotes, with the reference following in parentheses.  Example: “Jesus wept.” (John 11:35)

Prefer everything in Times New Roman font, 12 point type, aligned left.  Avoid adverbs. (i.e. very, words that end in -ly) Remove this word from its sentence and you’ve made the same statement.

Avoid cliches. Definition of a cliche (thanks to White Oleander): Anything you have heard before.

Numbers: Please spell out numbers one through nine, but use numbers from 10 up.

No direct criticism of any organization or it's official organs, though they may be mentioned indirectly.

Prefer the term "Apostolic" over "Pentecostal."

Each article is copyright to the individual writer and will stay on the web for 3-6 months before we remove it.

"Book or Music/CD Reviews" - The focus should be on "Christians Reviewing" over "Reviewing Christian Material." The majority of material reviewed should be Christian, but secular content can & should be reviewed from a Christian perspective.

"Book or Music/CD Reviews" should have the book/CD title, author/performer’s name, publisher, publication date, and page count at the top.

Please write a 3 sentence true bio of yourself at the end of your article.

It should have two serious sentences and at least one fun fact. Example: Natasha Rostov works as a video development director in the computer industry. A native of Russia, she teaches Sunday School, and travels the countryside in her free time. When she’s not firing temporary workers, she reads the classics to cover up a misspent youth.
